Privacy Policy

In short: Hopchain has no accounts, sets no cookies and does not ask you to connect a wallet. To show a wallet's activity it sends the address you look up to third-party data providers, and it briefly stores your IP address to limit abuse.

Hosting

This website runs on Cloudflare (Cloudflare Workers and static asset hosting). Cloudflare processes technically necessary server log data (for example IP address, timestamp and requested address) to deliver and secure the site. This processing is necessary to provide the website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Looking up a wallet

When you enter a wallet address (or open a wallet page), our server processes that address to build the result. The address is a public blockchain identifier; we do not link it to your identity and do not ask for your name, email or any account.

To retrieve the blockchain data, our server sends the address to the following third-party providers. These requests are made by our server, so your IP address and browser details are not passed on to them:

  • Etherscan (api.etherscan.io): transactions, token transfers and balances of the address on the supported chains.
  • ensdata.net (api.ensdata.net): turning an ENS name you type (such as name.eth) into its address, and looking up readable ENS names for some of the public addresses shown as connections.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing the service you requested (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Caching

To keep the site fast and stay within provider limits, results for a looked-up address are cached for a short time (about 10 minutes) on Cloudflare's key-value storage. The cache is keyed by the public address only and contains public blockchain data, not information about you.

IP address and abuse protection

To limit automated abuse, your IP address is stored together with a request counter in Cloudflare's key-value storage for 60 seconds and then deleted automatically. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the service available (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Saved wallets

The "Saved" list is stored only in your own browser (local storage) and is never sent to our servers. You can remove entries at any time or clear your browser data.

Cookies

This website sets no cookies.

Traffic measurement with Cloudflare Web Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics for anonymized measurement of page views. For this, your browser loads a small script from Cloudflare (static.cloudflareinsights.com) and sends measurement data to Cloudflare, so your IP address is transmitted to Cloudflare with that request. The service sets no cookies and stores no information on your device. Only aggregated, non-personal data is collected (for example page views, load times and country-level origin). The IP address itself is not stored.

Since no access to device information occurs and no cookies are set, no consent under the ePrivacy Directive is generally required. Processing is based on our legitimate interest in privacy-friendly traffic measurement (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Fonts and scripts

Fonts and scripts used to display the pages are served from our own domain. The only exception is the measurement script of Cloudflare Web Analytics described above, which your browser loads from Cloudflare. Your browser does not contact Google Fonts or other third-party content delivery networks.

External links

Wallet pages link to third-party block explorers. Once you follow such a link, the privacy policy of that site applies.

Contact form

This website has no contact form. Contact happens exclusively via direct email to the address listed in the Imprint; any data you send that way is used solely to handle your inquiry.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights regarding any personal data that is processed: access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection to processing (Art. 21 GDPR). Contact us at the email above to exercise these rights. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

Changes to this policy

This privacy policy will be updated when the site's functionality changes, for example if accounts, a contact form or additional analytics tools are introduced.
