Hopchain checks whether they share counterparties or a funding source — filtered so a common exchange or DEX (which almost any two active wallets would share) doesn't look like a meaningful link. How the pairwise check works
Hopchain looks up the history of each address and compares two things: who first funded each wallet (where we can find it), and which counterparties the wallets have in common. Exchanges, DEX routers and large token contracts that almost every active wallet touches are filtered out, so they do not count as a link.
What a result does and does not prove
A shared funding source or a rare shared counterparty is a strong hint that two wallets belong to the same person or group. It is not proof: friends, a company paying several employees or a single exchange wallet can produce the same pattern. A result with no link only means that none was found in the history we can read.
