MetaSleuth alternative: a free wallet explorer with no signup

If you are searching for a MetaSleuth alternative, you probably want one of three things: no account, no monthly limits, or a simpler view than a full investigation platform. Hopchain covers those three, and only those. It is not a replacement for everything MetaSleuth does, and this page says where each tool is the better choice.

Independent comparison. Hopchain is not affiliated with MetaSleuth or BlockSec. MetaSleuth figures below come from its public website and plans page and were checked on 3 October 2026. Plans and limits change, so confirm current terms on metasleuth.io.

The short version

  • Choose Hopchain if you want a quick, free look at who a wallet has dealt with, a free check of whether wallets belong to the same person, or an overview you can use without creating an account.
  • Choose MetaSleuth if you are doing a real investigation: following stolen funds across chains, covering Bitcoin, BNB Chain or Base, needing alerts, an API, or compliance risk scores.

Where Hopchain fits

  • You just want to look. Paste an address and the page loads. No account, no quota to watch, nothing to connect or sign.
  • You need to know whether wallets are the same person. The Sybil and bulk checks compare shared funding, direct transfers and shared counterparties, and filter out exchanges and popular contracts that would otherwise cause false matches. See how to tell if two wallets are linked.
  • You want plain language. Flagged addresses get a short explainer of what they are and what to do, and the guides are written for non-specialists.
  • Tron or Solana. Both are covered the same way as Ethereum, with the gaps listed in our Tron and Solana guide.

Where MetaSleuth is better

  • Investigation depth. It is built to follow funds hop by hop and across chains. Hopchain shows connections and lets you click from wallet to wallet, but it does not trace funds automatically.
  • Coverage. More chains, including Bitcoin, BNB Chain and Base, which Hopchain does not cover yet.
  • Labels. A far larger label database, which matters a lot when you need to know who an address is.
  • Monitoring and integrations. Address alerts, saved charts, team plans and APIs for labels and risk scores, aimed at compliance and law-enforcement work.

Which one should you use?

  • Checking a counterparty before paying them: Hopchain is enough for a first look. See how to check if a crypto address is a scam.
  • Screening a list of airdrop or giveaway wallets for one person behind many: the bulk check is built for exactly this.
  • Chasing funds that left across several chains, or reporting to an exchange or law enforcement: use a dedicated investigation platform, and keep Hopchain for quick looks and screenshots.
  • Many people use both: a quick look in Hopchain first, then a deeper tool only if the case needs it.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free MetaSleuth alternative that needs no account?
Hopchain is free and needs no account or signup. You paste an address and see who it has dealt with on Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, Base, OP Mainnet, BNB Chain, Avalanche, HyperEVM, Robinhood Chain, Tron and Solana. It is a simpler overview, not a full investigation platform.

Does Hopchain trace stolen funds like MetaSleuth?
Not today. Hopchain shows a wallet's connections and lets you hop from address to address, but it does not offer automated multi-hop fund tracing, compliance risk scores, alerts or an API. For a formal investigation, a dedicated platform such as MetaSleuth is the better tool.

Is MetaSleuth free?
MetaSleuth has a free plan with monthly allowances, listed on its plans page as 200 basic investigations and 5 advanced analyses per month at the time of writing, with paid plans starting at $30 per month. Check its plans page for current terms.

Which chains does Hopchain support compared with MetaSleuth?
Hopchain covers Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, Base, OP Mainnet, BNB Chain, Avalanche, HyperEVM, Robinhood Chain, Tron and Solana. MetaSleuth lists around a dozen chains on its site, including Bitcoin, which Hopchain does not cover.

MetaSleuth is a product of BlockSec and its name belongs to its owner. This comparison is general information, not financial, legal or security advice.
