Tron address and TRC20 transaction check

USDT on the Tron network (TRC20) is one of the most common ways to move dollars between exchanges and wallets. Two questions come up again and again: is this Tron address valid and safe to pay, and did my TRC20 transaction really arrive? This page answers both and shows how to find out whether Tether has frozen an address.

What a Tron address looks like

  • It starts with T and is 34 characters long, made of letters and digits.
  • It is case-sensitive and contains a checksum, so most typing errors make it invalid.
  • It is not an 0x address. Those belong to Ethereum-style chains (see what an EVM address is). Sending USDT to the wrong kind of address on the wrong network can lose the funds.

How to check a TRC20 transaction

  1. Get the TXID. It is 64 hexadecimal characters in your exchange's withdrawal history or your wallet. An exchange shows it only once it has actually sent the transaction.
  2. Open Tronscan and paste the full TXID into the search field.
  3. Read the result. A successful transfer is marked as successful. A failed contract call can still use up fees, but the USDT did not move.
  4. Check the token transfer. It lists the sender, the recipient and the amount. Compare the recipient address and the amount with what you expected, character by character.
  5. Look at the confirmations. Tron produces a block roughly every three seconds, but exchanges often wait for several blocks before they credit a deposit.

If the TXID is not found, check the network first. See How to check a TXID (transaction hash lookup).

Why an exchange may not credit your USDT

  • Wrong network. USDT exists on several networks (TRC20 on Tron, ERC20 on Ethereum, BEP20 on BNB Chain). The deposit address and the network must match.
  • Not enough confirmations yet. Wait and check the status again.
  • Below the minimum deposit. Small amounts are sometimes not credited.
  • A different deposit address than the one in your account.
  • A frozen address. If the address involved is on Tether's blacklist, the USDT cannot move (see below).

If the transaction shows as successful on Tronscan and the recipient is your deposit address, contact the exchange's support with the TXID.

Has Tether frozen the address?

Tether keeps a blacklist in its USDT contract on Tron. A blacklisted address cannot move its USDT; the funds are frozen. Hopchain checks this for Tron addresses: if the address is on the list, the result shows "Frozen by Tether (USDT on Tron)". Paste the address on the Hopchain home page.

The limits: the check reads Tether's list as it is now. For Tron there is no GoPlus data, so apart from that list the result rests on the wallet's on-chain activity. A clean result is never a guarantee that an address is safe. See How to check if a crypto address is a scam.

Tron address checker: what to look at

  1. Is the format valid? Starts with T, 34 characters, no spaces.
  2. How old is it and how active? A brand-new address with no history is a reason for caution when you are about to pay it.
  3. Who does it deal with? Exchanges, known entities, flagged addresses or only unknown wallets. See How to track a crypto wallet for free and How to track a Tron or Solana wallet.
  4. Is it frozen by Tether? Check it as described above.

Frequently asked questions

What is TRC20?
The token standard on the Tron network. USDT on Tron is a TRC20 token.

How do I check a USDT TRC20 transaction?
Take the TXID from your exchange or wallet, paste it into Tronscan, and check the result, the sender, the recipient, the amount and the confirmations.

My TRC20 transaction succeeded but the exchange has not credited it. Why?
Common reasons are too few confirmations, a deposit below the minimum, a different deposit address than yours, or the wrong network. If Tronscan shows success and the right recipient, contact the exchange with the TXID.

Can I send USDT TRC20 to an Ethereum address?
No. Tron and Ethereum addresses have different formats and are different networks. Sending to the wrong kind of address can lose the funds.

How can I tell whether a Tron address is blacklisted by Tether?
Tether keeps a blacklist in its USDT contract. Hopchain checks it for Tron addresses and shows "Frozen by Tether (USDT on Tron)" when an address is on it.

Does Hopchain check every Tron address for scams?
No. For Tron it checks Tether's blacklist and shows the wallet's on-chain activity. A clean result does not prove an address is safe.
